Wilma als had t take a fifty-mile bus ride with her mum twice a week t g t Meharry Medical Cllege. The kind dctrs and nurses at the cllege gave her exercises t strengthen her muscles. She had t wear a metal brace (支架) that supprted her left leg. Using this, she culd finally walk by herself and g t schl with ther kids. That sunded gd, but the little girl really hated wearing it. She had t wear it with heavy shes that made her stand ut.
“What will the ther kids say? ” she asked her mum. “I dn’t want t lk different!” Her mther tried t cheer her up. “Yu wn’t have t wear it frever, dear.
