Key points: grasp the main idea and take notes while listening.Difficult points: tell a practical joke and make comments on practical jokes.教学过程时间教学环节主要师生活动2’Step1Lead-in Teacher asks students to read the part “Did you know?” on P 14 and ask questions to help them understand the information.Q1: When is it celebrated?Q2: Where is it celebrated?Q3: What do people do on this day?Q4: How long do the jokes last?2’Step 2 pre-listeningTeacher asks students to look at the four pictures in Activity 8, describe them and predict what the audio talks about.4’Step 3Listening for main ideaTeacher plays the audio for the first time and asks students to summarize the main idea of the audio. Students share answers and check whether the prediction is right.4’Step 4 Listening for detailed information1.Students read the notes in Activity 9. Teacher plays the audio for the second time and students choose the pictures mentioned and complete the notes. 2.Teacher asks some students to read the whole notes and others check the answers. 3.Teacher asks students work in pairs, discuss which of the practical jokes is the funniest and give reasons.4’Step 5Listening for speaking1.Teacher shows students the script of the radio program on screen and play the audio again. Students follow the audio and read it aloud, paying attention to useful expressions from the radio program. 2. Teacher asks students to classify the expressions according to their pragmatic function. Teacher asks students to check the answers with class. 7’Step 6Speaking1. Teacher divides students into pairs and asks them to tell practical and make comments in pairs. Teacher shows students the criteria and classmates watch performance from different groups, grade it and give comments. (Criteria: attached at the end of this teaching plan)2. Teacher invites several pairs to act out their conversations in front of the class and asks other students to make comments.1’Step 7Summary1.Teacher guides students to talk about how to tell a practical joke and make comments.2. Students talk about why people need jokes in life and teacher makes a conclusion.1’HomeworkOption 1: Describe the jokes in the radio program.
