This is 不能缩写，但That is可以缩写成That′s。
Eg. That is his father. 那是他父亲。 Mum，this is my teacher. 妈妈，这是我的老师。
若介绍两个或两个以上的人或物，要用“These/Thse are...”句型，意为“这些/那些是……”。
Eg. These are my classmates. 这些是我的同班同学。 Thse are bananas. 那些是香蕉。
“This is...”也可作为电话用语，意为“我是……”。
Eg. — Hell，this is Mike. Wh′s that? 你好，我是迈克。您是哪位? — This is David speaking. 我是戴维。

该句型表示“有某物/某人”，动词 be 的单复数形式由其后的名词 (句子的主语) 决定。
其基本结构是：There be＋名词 (＋其他).
Eg. There′s a cffee shp and yu can buy fd and drinks there. 有一家咖啡店，你可以在那里买食物和饮料。There are a lt f peple in the park tday. 今天公园里有很多人。There is a little water in the glass. 玻璃杯里有一点儿水。

hld 的其他常见含义：
(1) 抓住，拿着 Eg. Grandma hlds my hands tightly. 奶奶紧紧地抓住我的手。(2) 容纳，包含 (不用于进行时态) Eg. The mvie theater hlds 1,000 peple. 这家电影院能容纳1 000人。(3) hld 的常见短语：

favurite adj. & n.特别喜爱的 (人或事物)
(1)［形容词］特别喜爱的在含义上相当于“”，前面不用 very 或 mst 修饰。通常用于名词前作定语，其前常与形容词性物主代词或名词所有格搭配使用。
Eg. Tm′s favurite clur is range. ＝ Tm likes range best. 汤姆最喜欢的颜色是橙色。 My favurite fd is salad. 我最喜欢的食物是沙拉。
(2)［名词］特别喜爱的人或事物其复数形式为 favurites。
Eg. Chinese fd is really delicius and ht pt is my favurite. 中国食物很美味，火锅是我的最爱。 These flwers are my favurites. 这些花是我的最爱。

(1) 后可接表示团体或组织的名词 (如club、the army等)，表示成为其中一员。 Eg. My brther wants t jin the army. 我哥哥想参军。(2) 后可接人称代词的宾格形式，表示“加入……之中”。 Eg. I′m glad yu can jin us. 我很高兴你能加入我们。
jin 与 take part in 两者都有“参加”的意思，但含义不同。
